UL 1077 supplementary protector ratings and part numbers
Meisterline Controls scopes and quotes UL 508A control panels. This page lines up UL 1077 supplementary protectors from five brands by trip curve and rated current, and shows how each line’s part numbers are built: series, poles, trip curve and current, with the catalog page for each.
A UL 1077 supplementary protector is not a branch circuit breaker. It protects a device inside a panel where branch circuit protection already exists upstream.
Branch circuit protection has to be listed to UL 489.
Trip curve and rated current side by side
A matching row is a starting point, not an equivalent. Poles, voltage rating in alternating or direct current (AC or DC), interrupting rating at your voltage, and the catalog’s own trip band for the curve letter all have to be checked before a part can be substituted. Send the list and we’ll check it against your ratings.
Trip curve is the letter the brand prints for the magnetic trip band, as a multiple of rated current (In). Each brand sets its own bands (see the note under the table). Rated current is the In printed in the ordering table. One row per trip curve and rated current; no brand’s line is the anchor, and the columns run in alphabetical order. A cell names the series that print a part at exactly that curve and current, where the catalog states UL 1077 for it. A larger rating is never put in its place. An empty cell means that catalog prints no UL 1077 part at that curve and current, unless a note under the row says otherwise.
Poles, voltage and interrupting rating aren’t columns: they change within a series by pole count and voltage, so they are read per part number from the catalog pages listed under the table. Every series named here is one whose catalog states UL 1077, so the standard isn’t a column either.

Supplementary protectors from other brands, such as Phoenix Contact and Sprecher+Schuh, aren’t named in this table: Meisterline Controls names a series once its UL 1077 statement has been read on the catalog page, and those lines are covered through our Parts Check.
How each line’s part numbers are built
Each section uses only that line’s own catalog, with the page for every code. Where two pages or documents from the same brand disagree, the item is left out and noted.
ABB ST200M, S200MUC, S300P, S800 and ST200MTR
Format: series with the pole count built in, a hyphen, the trip curve letter, then the rated current, for example ST201M-C10. Source: ABB control catalog 9AKK108467A9680, Section 6 (2026-04). ABB prints an “Ordering code construction – UL1077” key on page 6-6, marked “Reference only”, for the ST, S200 and S300 numbers. The S800 numbers aren’t in that key; their segments below are the headings of the ordering tables they are printed in.

| DC (ST200MTR) | Direct current version: the pages are headed “K characteristic — DC” and “Z characteristic — DC”, for example ST201MTR-K0,5 DC | 6-57, 6-59 |
The ABB S800S below 6 A is left off the table. ABB's control catalog 9AKK108467A9680 lists the S800S at 0.5 to 63 A in its UL 1077 series on page 6-33, and prints 0.5 through 5 A numbers on pages 6-46 to 6-49. The System pro M compact catalog 1SXU400208C0201 prints a rated current of 6 to 63 A for the S800S under UL 1077 on page 92.
This is also why there is no 2.5 A row for the B, C, D and K curves — the S800S is the only series printing 2.5 A.
ABB's key on page 6-6 and its ordering pages differ in two places, so neither item from the key is used here. The key gives the current range as 10 A to 100 A, where the ordering pages print 0.2 through 63 A on pages 6-33 to 6-59. The key gives the T2 interrupting rating as 10 kA up to 32 A and 6 kA above, where page 6-33 gives the ST200M short circuit interrupting rating as 10/5 kA.
Page 6-35 also prints the three-pole 20 A C-curve number as ST203M-BC20.

Schneider Electric C60SP and C60H-DC
Schneider’s numbers are eight characters, for example M9F22110. Sources: Multi9 catalog LVCATM9OEM_EN (version 2.2, 2026-04) = Multi9 catalog; Square D Digest 179, Section 7 (2026-09) = Digest. Neither prints a numbering key, so this section shows where each number is printed: the row gives the rated current and the column gives the pole count and curve.
Where the numbers are printed
| Series | Numbers start | Curves (column headings) | Poles | Pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C60SP | M9F2 | B, C, D (=K) | 1, 2 (p.18); 3, 4 (p.19) | Multi9 catalog pp.18–19; Digest p.7-28 |
| C60H-DC | M9U | Multi9 catalog: C, D (=K) for 1-pole and B, C, D (=K) for 2-pole. Digest: B, C, K (= D) | 1, 2 | Multi9 catalog p.21; Digest p.7-29 |
Both documents describe the C60SP and C60H-DC as “supplementary protection as defined by UL 1077” (Multi9 catalog pp.18 and 21; Digest pp.7-28 and 7-29), and the Multi9 catalog gives “UL 1077 supplementary protection, document #E90509” for the C60SP (p.19). The C60H-DC is for direct current only (p.21).
Schneider's two documents name different C60SP and C60H-DC numbers, so this table uses only numbers printed in both. Twelve C60SP D-curve numbers at 45, 50 and 63 A appear in the Digest on page 7-28 and print as a dash in the Multi9 catalog on pages 18 and 19. For the C60H-DC, the Digest table on page 7-29 and the Multi9 table on page 21 share 45 numbers, with 33 more appearing in only one of them.
Neither document states Listed or Recognized for these series. The Digest heads its C60SP interrupting rating column with UL 489 and CSA C22.2 No. 235, and its C60H-DC column with UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 No. 5.

| Series | C60SP | Table “C60SP”, tunnel terminal connection | Multi9 catalog p.18; Digest p.7-28 |
| Poles | 1P | 1P column | Multi9 catalog p.18 |
| Trip curve | C | Curve C column | Multi9 catalog p.18 |
| Rated current | 10 A | Rating (In) row 10 | Multi9 catalog p.18 |
| Catalog number | M9F22110 | The same number in both documents | Multi9 catalog p.18; Digest p.7-28 |
Siemens 5SY and 5SP
Format: series, a pole digit, a two-digit current code, a hyphen and a tripping characteristic digit, for example 5SY4 210-7. Siemens prints the number with a space after the series; it is also written without it (5SY4210-7). Source: Siemens Industrial Controls catalog Section 16 (2022-04). Siemens prints the characteristic digits on page 16/2; the pole and current codes are the rows and tables of the ordering pages.
Series (page 16/23)
| Series | Tripping characteristics | Poles | Ordering pages |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5SY4 | A, B, C, D | 1, 1+N, 2, 3, 3+N, 4 | 16/13, 16/14 |
| 5SY6 | B, C | 1, 1+N, 2, 3, 3+N, 4 | 16/15, 16/16 |
| 5SY5 | B, C (AC/DC range: 277 V AC or 250 V DC 1-pole, 480 V AC or 500 V DC 2-pole, p.16/18) | 1, 2 | 16/18 |
| 5SP4 | B, C, D | 1, 2, 3, 4 | 16/17 |
Siemens notes that “The only difference between 5SY4 and 5SY6 is the IEC 60898-1 Interrupting Rating … However, UL Interrupting ratings are the same for 5SY4 and 5SY6” (page 16/15).
Codes
| Position | Meaning | Page |
|---|---|---|
| -5 / -6 / -7 / -8 | Tripping characteristic A / B / C / D | 16/2 |
| pole digit | 1 = 1-pole; 5 = 1-pole + N; 2 = 2-pole; 3 = 3-pole; 6 = 3-pole + N; 4 = 4-pole (the table each number is printed in) | 16/13, 16/14 |
| current code | Mostly the amps (10 = 10 A, 63 = 63 A), with these exceptions printed in the tables: 14 = 0.3 A, 05 = 0.5 A, 01 = 1 A, 15 = 1.6 A, 11 = 5 A, 18 = 15 A; on the 5SP4, 80 = 80 A, 91 = 100 A, 92 = 125 A | 16/13, 16/17 |
Siemens page 16/15 prints the 5SY6 single-pole-plus-neutral B characteristic numbers out of line with their current rows — the 5SY6 506-6, for example, sits on the 2 A row — and lists the 5SY6 218-7 in both the single-pole-plus-neutral and the two-pole tables. Meisterline Controls files the 5SY6218-7 as single-pole plus neutral.
The table above names series rather than individual numbers, and the 5SY6 prints at the same curves and currents in the single-pole table, so it is not affected. Confirm the individual numbers against the catalog before ordering.
