30 mm pilot devices and push buttons: series and part numbers

Meisterline Controls scopes and quotes UL 508A control panels. This page lines up 30 mm push buttons, illuminated push buttons, selector switches, emergency stops and pilot lights across five brands’ lines by operator type, then shows how each line’s part numbers are built, including whether contact blocks come fitted, with the catalog page for each.

Operator types side by side

A matching row is a starting point, not an equivalent. Contact blocks (fitted or ordered separately), lamp type and voltage, operator function (momentary, maintained or spring return) and the enclosure type rating all have to be checked before a part can be substituted. Send the list and we’ll check it against your ratings, as parts or as part of a panel quote.

Rows are operator types, named the way the catalogs’ own section headings name them. Each cell names the series and the leading characters of its catalog numbers for that type, with the catalog page. It is never a complete orderable number. Every series here mounts in the 30 mm hole (Eaton and Siemens print it as 30.5 mm). Because all of them share the hole size, there is no “nearest” column: the match is by operator type only. A series is named only where its own catalog states the UL listing.

ABB’s 30 mm section has no emergency stop table. Its one emergency stop sentence (PDF page 176) sits in a Declaration of Conformity block that names catalog numbers 52P and 52S, which are not A3 numbers, so the ABB cell is left empty.
ABB's A3 technical page carries the series' UL listing line for file E2403, and beneath it a Declaration of Conformity block naming catalog numbers 52P and 52S. That block's wording matches the Siemens Class 52 technical page. The UL listing line sits under the A3 heading and is used here; the emergency stop sentence in the declaration block is not.

Sources (PDF page numbers): ABB 1SXU150189C0201, Pilot devices (2022-11), 30 mm heavy duty oil-tight range, pages 143–176; the UL listing is on page 176. Allen-Bradley: Rockwell 800-TD009L (2025-09), pages 1–39; the UL listing is on page 4. Eaton: Volume 7, CA08100008E (2022-12), E30 pages 187–192 (UL listing on page 187), 10250T pages 205–242, E34 pages 276–298 and HT800 pages 318–331 (each prints “UL 508” with UL file number E131568, on pages 205, 276 and 318). Schneider Electric: Square D Digest 179 Section 19 (2026-07), Class 9001 Type K and SK pages 51–65; “UL File E78403. CCN NKCR” is on page 4. Siemens: Industrial Controls catalog Section 10 (2026-02), Class 52 pages 191–209; the UL listing is on pages 191 and 228.

Meisterline Controls names a series only where the catalog states the UL listing: the word Listed, a UL file number with its category code (Square D 9001 K and SK: file E78403, category NKCR), or a UL file number with the standard (Eaton 10250T, E34 and HT800: UL 508, file E131568). Eaton’s M30 and C30 print a UL file number only (pages 160 and 178) and Siemens’ 3SU1 30 mm parts have no UL statement in Section 10, so they aren’t named here; they are covered through our Parts Check.

Contact blocks are the main difference between lines. On ABB A3, Allen-Bradley 800T and 800H and Siemens Class 52, the end of the catalog number says which contact blocks are fitted, and the same operator without that code comes with none: ABB’s -00 rows read “Operator only” (PDF page 159), Allen-Bradley’s blank contact code is “No contacts” (page 9), and Siemens says “for operator without contact blocks leave position e blank” (page 10/192). Each of these lines also sells contact blocks on their own: ABB A3XC (PDF page 169), Allen-Bradley in kit form for field installation (page 39). Eaton E30 is different: operators come without contact blocks, and “contact blocks must be ordered separately, up to four circuits maximum” (page V7-T1-187). Before substituting, count the contact blocks behind each operator, not just the operator.
A red mushroom head or a push-pull operator is not by itself an emergency stop device. Allen-Bradley’s are the trigger action 800T-TFX and 800H-TFRX devices, plus push-pull devices fitted with N.C.L.B. (normally closed late break) contacts (Rockwell pages 7, 8 and 24). Siemens’ Class 52 e-stops take an S at the end of the number and 52BJK contact blocks, under a separate UL file (page 10/191). Check that the substitute is the e-stop version, with the contacts its catalog names.

How each line’s part numbers are built

Each section uses only that line’s own catalog, with the page for every code. Where two pages of the same catalog disagree, the item is left out and noted.

Eaton E30

E30 is a square, multifunction operator for the 30.5 mm (1-13/64 in) hole. Eaton sells it as separate catalog numbers: “When Ordering a Complete E30 Control Unit Specify Catalog Number of … Operator, Button(s), Contact block(s), Accessories (if required)” (page V7-T1-189). Source: Eaton Volume 7, CA08100008E (2022-12), pages V7-T1-187 to 192. Eaton doesn’t print a numbering key; the meanings below are the table headings. The 10250T, E34 and HT800 numbers in the table above carry their own catalog pages; this section covers E30.
